Default This Is Apple's Next iPhone!!!

While Apple may tinker with the final packaging and design of the final phone, it's clear that the features in this lost-and-found next-generation iPhone are drastically new and drastically different from what came before. Here's the detailed list of our findings:
    What's new

    • Front-facing video chat camera
    • Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)
    • Camera flash
    • Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)
    • Improved display. It's unclear if it's the 960x460 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the "Connect to iTunes" screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.
    • What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack
    • Split buttons for volume
    • Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic

And in related news, the iPhone 4G still can't play flash videos.

I really hate apple. They are good at starting new trends and innovations, but they shorten supply and over hype for ridiculous prices, leave off no-brainer features, and their products are quickly improved upon by other companies.

I don't like their ridiculous rules and limitations on their hardware and software. Like, why the fuck can't I replace my iPhone battery? It lasts less than a day now, and I can't do anything about it. And obviously paying those douchey "apple geniuses" $60 to replace it is completely out of the question.

That iPhone may or may not be real. Check out the news about how Apple might be pulling a fast one. I do like that look of that phone, though.

I get pissy about Apple and their hands off approach about batts etc but it is what it is and they make some awesome tech stuff so I can live with it. The lack of flash bothers me but if Jobs has his way we'll be in a Flashless world anyway.

The batts? You talking about the battery?

Funny story about batteries. Yesterday, I took my 1 year and 3 month old iPhone 3G off the charger around 9:00am. I made a few calls, total talk time around 5 minutes. Checked my email a couple times, spent a total of about 30 minutes using the phone. At 1:45pm, I got the 20% battery life remaining warning. Less than five fucking hours of mostly standby and my battery was almost dead. You might say, "well Lee, why not replace the battery?" Well I'll tell you why; because Apple didn't see fit to trust me with that operation, and instead require I pay some snobby shitbag "apple genius" $60 to do it for me. Well I don't fucking think so. I hate my phone, I hate ATT, and I want to get rid of this thing like, yesterday, so I'd rather pay the $75 it would cost for an early termination fee and get a Droid phone with Verizon than pay $60 for a new fucking battery for my shitty iPhone. So in the meantime, I'm stuck with a phone that lasts 6 hours. In other words, I have to carry a charger in my fucking pocket all day if I want to have a cell phone.

I'm actually considering carrying around our spare phone, an old Moto Razr and swapping the sim cards when my shitty iphone dies.

I prefer Apple's closed stance as far as software goes. I've had 3 friends end up with crippling virus's on Android phones from downloading apps. As far as battery life goes, mine on my 3G is good. I only usually charge it every other day. If i have a heavy use day I need to once a day. But this seems to be the way all smart phones are. Friends with the Droid, HTC Hero and Palm Pre all say the same things.
    I own some stuff.

That is a good point about the viruses, but obviously it comes at a price.

Yeah in the past two months, my batter life has literally halved.

Heh. Given my opinion of Macromedia and Adobe, I quite think a Flashless world would be a great, enduring gift for Apple and Jobs to give to us. I might even be grateful enough to buy one or two minor, non-essential Apple products in that case (but only on the condition that whatever replaces Flash has NO LSOs in it!).

    Yours,

The thing about the iPhone and probably other smart phones is that they never rest so battery (batt) life will be a lot less than say some crappy flip phone. I am constantly putting this thing on to check mail etc. It's amazing it lasts as long ad it does for the amount of on time. I do wish I could change the battery on my own. N, I wanted a Droid for awhile but the damn Remote app is frigg'n worth it alone to keep the iPhone.

Still haven't used the remote app.

In a strange twist, I came home from work yesterday to find that I had 3G service AT MY HOUSE. Since moving there a year ago, I haven't seen 3G coverage within 20 miles of my house in any direction. Its possible that they are simply testing some towers, or maybe ATT actually upgraded something. I wouldn't be surprised if it went back to Edge in a day or so; I've had that happen before.

I would like to let you know that ATT actually showed a 67% increase in speeds, where the next closest carrier increased by 20%, Verizon actually slowed down spending twice as much on their network as ATT (yes half of it was the acquisition of Altell.)

Also according to PC World not only does ATT have the highest average network speeds, by almost double the comp., but also a higher average reliability.

I don't care about speeds; I want coverage. Remember, first and foremost, this thing is my cell phone, and its principle purpose is to make phone calls.

I still drop 10% of my calls, which is utterly pathetic. In the 10 years that I was a customer of US Cellular, I had less dropped calls than the FIRST MONTH with ATT, I shit you not.

The higher average reliability isn't just internet it is overall coverage including dropped calls, unfortunately there are instances of defunct from the factory phones, just like any other piece of electronics, and that could be the antennae.

When iPhone OS 3.0 had the connection issues Apple eventually said it wasn't ATT's fault, it was something in their software messing with the reception.
