Default $184/month for 31 HD channels and internet. Wow.

So apparently my "promotional" period just ended with Assrape Criminal Enterprise Inc, AKA Charter Communications, and now my bill for basic digital cable, 1 DVR, 1 digital receiver, HBO, Cinemax, 31 HD channels and 5 meg cable internet just went up to $184/month.

    thats all.

wait, no thats not all. Please, do not give Charter your business. If you are considering Charter cable, don't get it. This company needs to be destroyed

    Is there a contract?

Every time my cable/ISP/phone provider pulls that crap I call and start to cancel my service and "let them talk me into staying with them" at the original (or lower) rate.

Time Warner is pretty easy to bargain with like that. Just mention the word satellite and they start taking chunks off the bill.

No, there's no contract. Charter wouldn't have any customers if they made them sign contracts.

I'm only staying in my apartment for another month (assuming we close on one of the stack of houses we're looking at), but I'm still planning to call them and threaten to cancel.

Its just such a pain in the ass. Calling Charter for anything means you automatically have to sit on hold for 25 minutes.

Mine did the same 6mo ago. I called and told them to get their equipment I'm going to dish. They dropped it to $135.99. Worth a try. I agree Charter must be destroyed.

That's why I love having cable service.

They know they have an inferior product so you can always call and bitch up a good discount every few months.

I had Charter for a day one time. Installed on a Friday had it taken out the next day. I called after the installers left to complain about the picture. They sent a service tech the next day. He looked at the picture and shrugged his shoulders and said "Thats the best its gonna get!" I said take your equipment and get it the hell out of my house.!!! He called the main office and told them what I said, They told him to take the equipment but I had to come to their office to get my installation fee back. Well worth it to get them out!!!!!

I'm just going to make this the designated bitch about Charter thread. I just had my second Moxi DVR go out on me in the last 3 mo. I was just told that a Tech will be here on MON between 5-7pm. I get to go the whole weekend without HD cable and after the rep telling me this she tried to get me to add-on services. Man I'm really thinking of going to dish.

You would be a lot happier with satellite!! Only thing is you will loose service for a couple minutes during severe storms. Other wise you will have more channels to choose from and I think you will like the service better. IMO.

Ok. Last Mon the new HD-DVR came. My statement did as well. They said the discount they gave me 7 mos ago expired and my bill with taxes and fees is $208 a mo. I called to cancel and the rep on the phone told me I could get 10 meg internet, all the premium channels(which I didn't have before) An HD-DVR and the HD tier, and telephone for $145 a mo for 2 yrs. I took it.

I still haven't called them. I'm closing on a house in 3 weeks, so my service ends then anyway. I suppose I'll just take it up the ass for one more month and save the headache of calling those nitwits.

I had DirecTV for about 5 years, (4 years ago), and when my VCR crapped out, I inquired about getting DVR service. They told me they'd lease me one for $500, not own, lease! I told them
Switched to IO Cablevision for their triple package, and been saving over $60 month ever since.

DirecTV customer service reps thought they were giving you gold. I find IO Cable's reps much more personable, and friendly, and must be one of the few that is actually happy with my cable company. The signal comes in is great. My displays with cable looks better than some friends with FIOS , but then again, they didn't calibrate the hell out of their displays. But YMMV depending upon your cable company and location.

I have phone, internet, and five tvs hooked up (2 standard boxes, two HD boxes, one HD DVDR with DVR service) getting all the premium channels on all five tvs.

When I called them last month about tough economic times, and they dropped my bill to $147 a month, guaranteed for 2 years, and threw in on-demand channels free for a month.
