Well Xbox did what it needed to do. Showed a whole slew of games. My highlights were Killer Instinct (How did they keep this quiet?), Ryse, and Sunset Overdrive.

Price was also announced. $499.00 with a November release date. Thoughts on the conference today? ...

    Review: Panasonic TC-P60VT60

Panasonic's new VT60 series has been making quite a splash, both in the AV forums and at Cleveland Plasma, where owner Chris has lost count of the questions about how the VT60 differs from last year's incredibly good 50 series. He had one sent over so I could spend some time evaluating this new gem. After a proper break in, I split the HDMI signal going to my GT50 and moved the VT60 into the living room right under it.

The VT60's screen has a very impressive ability to maintain deep blacks, even in high ambient light. With both sets off, the VT60 screen filter keeps it darker- the GT50 is a bit milky white in comparison. However, the VT60's reflections are sharper and more distinct; the GT50's reflections are more diffused. The screen filter that soaks up all that ambient light does restrict the vertical viewing angle a bit, though it should only be noticeable at extreme angles. When planning it's location, it would be best to avoid strong direct light that would cause reflections; and if it is mounted up high, ideally it should be tilted down toward the viewing position. A bit of extra top clearance should be allowed for the built in pop up video camera. ...

    Directed by David O. Russell

David O. Russell has always had a talent for creating extremely believable characters. I thoroughly enjoyed Three Kings as well as The Fighter and Silver Linings Playbook is no exception. It's no surprise that the film walked away with one Academy Award for Jennifer Lawrence's performance as well as seven other nominations including Best Writing and Directing for Russell.

After being in a mental institution for eight months Pat is finally being released due to a technicality with the local court. We soon discover that he was placed there after nearly beating the man to death who his wife, Nikki, was having an affair with who he has stumbled upon in their own house. He returns to his parent's home so that he can piece his life back together while he vows that everything has a silver lining, but that he must work for it.

Pat decides that he must get his life in order so that his Nikki will take him back and everything will go back to normal. This all sounds fine until we learn that Pat is bipolar with extreme mood swings and to make it worse he refuses to take his medication even at the recommendation of his therapist. After being invited to dinner by his old friend Danny he is introduced to Tiffany who is Danny's wife's sister. The two both have behavioral issues, but get along extremely well as they are both attempting to turn their lives around. ...

    Introduction

The biggest drawback to front projection setups is that they typically need to be installed within an environment that some or total control over ambient light. Over the years projection companies have tried their best to combat issues stemming from ambient light concerns by either a) making their projectors brighter, or b) developing ambient light rejecting screens. While ambient light rejecting screens do work, they’re not a cure all. It’s true projectors have gotten brighter over the years, some reaching light output in excess of 2,000 ANSI Lumens, though they typically fall short of the output needed to match that of today’s modern HDTV displays. There are a number of higher end (think high cost) high-output projectors, but they tend to be prohibitively expensive or too large to really be integrated into your typical home. This is why I’ve gone on record as saying that the best front projection setup is one you can treat like an HDTV, but that this is also why projectors remain a niche product whereas HDTVs continue to thrive. Therefore, when it comes to projectors, it’s all about the light. ...
