    Default DeltaE Formula

What DeltaE formula are you DIY calibrators using for Greyscale and Gamut?

I noticed that Calman version 3 seemed to default to 1976 where version 4 on mine defaults to UV.

    Hi Michael,

I generally use 1976 because I've found it's much less forgiving. In my experience, if dE76 is low, dE94 will only be lower, and I like to err on the side of caution.

    Yours,

    David

    Hi elwaylite,

Eh--it's getting there, but it is still a work in progress. They thought they would go gold this weekend, but the new DVDO firmware has slowed them down a bit. It seems like most of the serious bugs have been squashed, though I can't say that with personal confidence yet. I've mostly been playing with my i1Pro, so I've not spent any time with 4.0 yet.

    Yours,

    David

I think that it is getting better. Some of the small irritations like it not remembering your settings are slowly getting there. You know you can have both versions installed at once. The installation of version 4 does not uninstall version 3. So you can run which ever version you like...

Yep, that's the way I'm running it. Especially since 4.0 isn't finished yet, I had them send me Enthusiast license keys for both 3.7 and 4.0. That way, if 4.0 freaks out on me I can always switch over to 3.7.

I rushed Delta E in college. That was 1986. Dunno if that helps.
