Yeah, I thought I was over buying them but all these damn sales keep popping up. I need to quit and focus on BDs.

I have wondered why toshiba quit all together, players okay, but movie studios just jumped ship. They had to sign exclusive deals with BD only. If they did I wonder what the duration is? I personally dont see dvd going away until the BD player hits under 100 bucks. All you have to do here in wv is see the rednecks lined up at the 5 buck bin at WM and you know DVD is here to stay a while.

So it would profit toshiba to make combos, they own the rights to both formats anyway, and it couldnt be bad bus for the movie studios, right?

Maybe this should have been a thread and if so I am sorry, or if it has been discussed on another fourm and everyone knows why then fill me in please!!

From a bus standpoint just dosent make since esp on toshiba's point to just say screw it.

As long as they play correctly, I'm all for combos.

Gah, so many US imports I want >_< can't decide whether to pick em up at about £3.50 each + postage, or wait for the inevitible Blu-ray releases (especially in the UK where these titles havn't seen a HD release at all yet) to drop in price as theres more than enough stuff I want anyway

Payday next week, I can see me putting an order for 20 in and saying thats it for HD DVD purchases as a final hurrah.

Every time I say I'm not gonna buy any more HDs some kind of sale comes along and I end up buying a few. Damn things are like a drug or something.

At least they last longer than drugs

And I have to say, I can't bring myself to buy ANY HD DVD title on Blu-ray unless the studio pulls out the stops.

I haven't double dipped on any of my hd-dvds with BD. One I am considering doing so with is Unforgiven. Thats just because I'm a big fan of Clint Eastwood's westerns.

Studios must be still printing HD DVD's. They seem to be plastered all over the place. I think studios got stuck with 100's of 1,000's of blank HD DVD's that were waiting to get printed. No use in throwing them in the trash, so why not just put movies on them and sell them off imo.

No, it's just that Universal (and to a lessor degree, Paramount) printed up a lot of copies to begin with, since they figured HD DVD would be around a while longer.
