Default HAITI RELIEF EFFORT - HDJ members PLZ READ & PLZ HELP give $$$

I'm not really sure why, but this whole disaster in Haiti really bothers me. As I think about all of us that visit the HDJ forum - I think about all the money we all spend on our favorite things. Seems to me we could all afford to simply give $25 to the relief effort. It needs to happen ASAP - I found a relief effort on Amazon and gave that way. There are countless ways to give money and I think everyone knows how to do it.

Please consider how lucky we all are to have our families and health and give a bit right now. What a tragedy!
If someone has already started a thread to this effect...sorry. I didn't see it.

Thanks GOS, I agree, I mean what does it represent to us, a blu ray or two, or a new Video game, that $25.00 OR $50.00 or whatever you can afford, could provide medications To an injured child or individual or feed a starving homeless family in this time of crucial need here is a listing of numerous organizations accepting Relief Aide now Can't we all lend a helping hand. Pick a charity on that link (above), or any other charitable organization you want, and do whatever you can. Every little bit helps.

Hey guys, Ya know Da Rizz loves to joke and break chops with everyone, but when a Natural disaster like this occurs it really effects me, all I can see are the thousands of innocent children and young kids who will be thrown into a total state of turmoil. Already living in one of the poorest places in the world, now their being confronted with this disaster, many of them will probably be orphaned and abandoned to live in the streets of this destroyed city to fend for themselves. I plead with you guys to try to help out a little, that 20 or 25 bucks you'd blow on a BD or Game, that you may only watch once or twice could bring some Meds or Food where it's needed, I know you would get more appreciation out of that sacrifice than boosting BestBuys bank account. Please help out, and make the HDJ Family, a proud and caring Family.
    Thanks Da Rizz

    Thanks Gis and DaRizz.................

I used the link and gave a C note...it's not much but as you all say anything will help......my understanding from listening to the news reports there are over 25,000 Americans that live on Haiti and there are preliminary reports of American deaths....looking at the coverage that filtering back from Haiti it's absolutely devastating...having experienced the San Francisco earthquake it's a terrifying natural event to experience...

please if anyone here can afford anything to give please do so.....

Thanks again Gos and rizz for this thread....

Also a shame that many countries are desperately trying to land supplies in Haiti - but there is so much air traffic, and no where to put them all. I hope they can find alternate ways to get doctors, nurses, food and water to these people. It's in the 90's in Haiti...too hot to go without water.

GOS not only this, but the fact that there is no electricity, what ever type food produce is being airlifted will probably rot before it can be distributed and the criminal element will surely take advantage of this situation between looting and hijacking of supplies and trying to black-market them to their own peoples. The prisons have been destroyed and all of the previously incarcerated are running around loose on the streets of Haiti. When you think things can't get any worse, they do!

They had volunteers from Doctors without Borders, say that they can't even provide medical attention because of the lack of power, meds, nurse assistance, hospital facilities etc. they had a DR on the news today crying because he was so helpless to provide relief. there are dead bodies stacked all over and severely injured people waiting unattended with broken or even missing limbs, severe head trauma, crushed skull with exposed brains. It is hard to understand the workings of a Supreme being when something like this occurs.

Thumbs up Online masses text to offer Haitian quake relief

The most prominent online campaign to solicit small donations may be on behalf of the American Red Cross, which is encouraging people to text "HAITI" to the short-code 90999. It'll automatically donate $10 to Red Cross relief efforts and charge users' cell phone bills.

Additionally, musician Wyclef Jean, who is a Haitian immigrant and operates an education-focused Haitian activist group called Yele Haiti (and also has well over 1 million Twitter followers), has encouraged people to text "YELE" to the short-code 501501 to automatically donate $5--even though heavy volumes of traffic had already downed Yele's own Web site.

Please be aware of texting scams. The link Ax posted is a good one, but I've already come across at least 5 posts on various message boards that are complete texting scams. Great people we have in this world.

I agree Rizz. There are plenty of scumbags out there who would use this terrible tragedy for their own personal gain

We took up a collection at my work place and the money has been donated to the Red Cross. It makes me proud to help these people in their time of need.
