Default I have about 1700 to spend on a tv.........

I have about 1700.00 US to spend on a tv. I would like to have at least a 55". My last TV was an LG LE 8500 55".( I didn't like seeing the back lighting on solid light colors ) My living room gets a lot of sunshine from morning until about 3 in the afternoon. I have been looking at the Panasonic 60" ST30, 55" ST50, and LG 55" LW5600. I mainly watch Blu Ray Movies and Football. My kids play games on the PS3, XBOX, and Wii. I have a Denon Reciever and Polk Audio Speakers. Does anybody have any advise?

I just got a Samsung PN51D6500 plasma, great set. I'm sure you could pick up a 59" D6500 plasma for under 6500. I've never owned a Panasonic, so I can't vouch for their quality, but the Samsung's have been excellent.

The Samsung d6500 is a great tv. You could probably get a bundle on it at this time . I would expect though that the st50 is a better chice if you are going to sit there and evaluate the different aspects of the tv. If you just want a great looking tv with great pq and as little cash out the d6500 would be the choice.

    god bless

Have always preferred the picture quality of a plasma set - we have 3 of them - but, frankly, if our kids were still in the house & interested in video games, would opt for the lowest cost LCD panel - ideally back-lit - which provided decent overall PQ.

A panel with a matte filter would probably work better in a room with lots of sunshine.
