Thread: logitech harmony 900 remote

just in the process of getting it set up with my stuff. first impressions: beautiful, easy to use, rf works great. more tk.

below is what i had originally posted. undeservedly. without belaboring it, just know that anything you find on this forum from me about the 900 not working with a mac was based on the fact (at the time) that i didn't have the battery in. yes, yes, i know...

the good? i wouldn't know

the bad? it doesn't work with a mac (OS 10.6.7) even though they say it does.

CORRECTION: until i figure out how to change the thread name, please know that this remote works great with a mac. more later...

Based on Wooty's recommendation, I pulled the trigger on the Harmony 900 from Crutchfield.com.
It's on the way.
Will update and let everyone know what I think of it at a later date.

Would love to compare notes also and we will. I am currently waiting on my Panasonic 65 inch VT30 preorder from Robert at VE. I am getting the TV calibrated by D-Nice. There been some glitches and delays but shouldn't be too much longer. Once I get the TV and get everything set up including the remote, we will chat again and compare notes. Enjoy.

so far it's been terrific. i have to spend some time getting a few more things set up, but i have to say, i love the touchscreen. you tap "watch tv", et voia... the cable box, tv, and soundbar all come alive. and it has a terrific "hey, can i fix that for you?" help feature right in the remote.

Thank you. Got it. Remote is charging right now. Haven't done much else as far as the remote. My 300 pound Sony 65 inch rear projection tv just left my house.
Tomorrow BestBuy is bringing me my new 64 inch Samsung PND648000 plasma. So I spent some of yesterday and most of today, disconnecting equipment, cleaning and preparing for the new tv tomorrow.
Probably won't get back to you on how I like the remote till the weekend but I won't forget. Again thanks.

When programming for the tv, did you just put in the brand and model# and everything worked or did you have to utilize some remote to remote "learning"?
And you have already helped, I found Logitech harmony tech support# in your earlier post and I about to call them.
This is a lot harder than I originally thought but I will prevail eventually.

When pairing the two remotes for the learning procedure, they mention pressing a power toggle switch. Is that on the Harmony remote or the one for the original tv?
I guess that term "power toggle switch" is what is confusing me. Where is it and on which remote?
I am calling tech support at 10:00 eastern. Just curious, if you went through the same procedure.

Don't have the time to read this whole thread, but I hope that I helped you to make this decision when you asked orginally.

Called tech support and the only real issue was that I was calling my tv the Samsung pnd648000 and it is listed on their database as Samsung pn64d8000.
But I played really dumb or lazy and let the tech add in all four of my my devices for me.
Now here is the thing though. I am switching audio video receivers from Yamaha rxv3800 (non-3d pass though) to a Denon avr891 (3d ready). The Denon will arrive later this coming week. So on the advice of the tech, I am going to wait on the new audio/video receiver. When I receive and install it, I will then finish setting my activities for the remote. By the end of next weekend, I should be 100% finally using the remote as intended. Thanks for all your help.

i didn't do any pairing of remotes. we got rid of 4 other remotes when we got the 900. only other remote i have is the magic wand thingee that came with the lg pz950. that still works fine. having the 900 doesn't seem to interfere with other remotes.

j4... i'll stay online until i hear from you again. just in case there's anything i can do to help. but, that said, i have absolute faith that you will prevail.
