that's great, j4! and a canny strategy. 
i really think you're going to like the 900. a lot. the onboard help feature is great. although you have the option of turning it off, i'd leave it on for a while. if your experience is like ours, you may need it at some point. this was our first "universal" remote and it had an associated learning curve. not hard; just different.
for example: if someone (not me) accidentally turned off the tv at the source (thus disrupting the assumptive framework) the next time the remote is used the screen will say something like...
"gee, i think everything's supposed to be on. is it?".
... and when you say "no",
the screen says "want me to fix it?"
gotta love that. keep me and everyone else posted on your progress and ultimate triumph. (and, ok, it was me.)
