Thread: Need TV Stand for 64" plasma and large center channel

I'm upgrading my family room home theater. I'll be getting a 64" plasma and my center channel will be 9" H x 24.75" W x 11" D. I'm having trouble finding stands that can handle the width and height together. Most will fit either the height or the width, but I can't find any under $1k that will do both.

I'd like to spend < $700. Any suggestions?

I've seen these offered at $700 (Wright Sound Gallery) and online for around $380...

Hi, one you might consider is the Valera by BDI. It is designed for a 65 inch tv and the shelf under the top is adjustable. I'm getting one when I get my new 65 inch plasma and my center channel speaker is 8 inches high. This unit cost about $630 I believe. BDI is a well known manufacturer of home theater furniture. I've pretty much researched this topic to death and have come across these solutions (64" tv as well).

1. Wall mount your tv and get a cheap tv stand designed only for your components. Place your speaker on the stand.

Downside: The tv is not going to be centered against eye height.

2. Get a cheap stand for your tv and components. Either wall mount your center channel or get a mount that goes on the tv.

Downside: Wall mounting the center may not work well for all centers. Using a special mount for on top of the tv has weight limitations; however, this is pretty simple and easy compared to wall mounting.

3. Get a very low unit (about 12" ) unit and mount the tv. Place the speaker on top.

Downside: Salamander is the only 12" unit I've seen and costs more than some regular sized units.

4. Get a custom unit made for you.

Downsides: If you get new speakers they may not fit. This probably won't be cheap.

5. Get a unit that can actually can hold a large center.

Downsides: There is very little choice out there for units that support large center channels. You also have two choices, both have their own limitations. If you get a single wide shelf unit you're most likely compromising the use of the bottom shelf. If you get a unit that has a large middle center area it still has limited width and is more costly.

6. Get an open and adjustable unit that has a built-in mount and all shelves can adjust.

Downsides: Extremely hard to find
