The HDMI Licensing group unveiled an updated specification for the High Definition Multimedia Interface.

Highlights of the new specification, consist of a new data channel that can replace a hardwired Ethernet connection, support for a return audio stream & enhancements to the way content is displayed & transferred around the home.

Not another spec! Loads of people don't even know what HDMI is yet, letalone Version 1.4.

The only problem with all these new spec's being produced, you have no way of know what your getting when you buy them, because nowhere on the cables does it indicate their rating ?? so you are at the mercy of the retailers as to what your actually purchasing.

That is true. I think there should be an indicator on the cable stating what version it is.

Most people are just getting comfortable with USB and Eth. Now its time to change again

Any everyone bitched that Blu-Ray was an unfinished format, and the whole time I'm sitting there wondering if I was the only one more concerned about the future of HD interconnects than what color case our HD movies would be coming in.

I avoid HDMI where ever I can in my system.

I don't have HDMI connects on my receiver and I'm not sure if I want to upgrade very soon. I soon as I buy something is becomes an old product.

Kamp do you have your connections on the composite or component connections?

I would rather keep the Internet connectivity as it is, through a dedicated ethernet port.

I use HDMI for my PS3. Everything else is component or VGA. Audio being optical.

Unless you really really really want better wire management and can hear the compression in every DD track there is, I see no need for a HDMI receiver.

It took me 4 to get one that worked the way it should.

4 AVR's? My Yamaha is doing better than ever after I replaced my speakers with Kefs. It's an old AVR buts it still rocks...
