    Default Wall mount question

    Ok,

Say I have display X, which requires a certain wall mount from Sanus (just using them as an example). I decide to buy display Y, which requires a different wall mount from Sanus.

Would you feel comfortable backing the lag bolts out, removing the current bracket, and then using the same holes/bolts to bolt the new bracket up. Or should new holes be made higher or lower?

If this is the first R&R, I'd have no issue using the same bolts and holes.

    It would be.

Basically, I bought a Sanus for my D7000, measured it out, used the proper drill bit, and made lag bolt holes for my D7000 wall mount.

In theory, if I wen to a newer plasma this year, and it required a different bracket but would still be across two studs, I do not see why I could not use the same holes.

Same here especially if you have them in a stud. Just don't over tighten and strip them? Are your lags in a stud, concrete, brick, or drywall???

Right now, my wall bracket is held be 4 lag bolts, in two wooden (16") studs. I just tightened them to snug to hold up my current plasma.

You should be fine using the same holes. When u put the new brackets up tighten to snug, if they feel like they are gonna try to strip then I'd move them up or down and inch or so maybe two at most but if the new bracket snugs up I wouldn't worry about it, it should be fine.

Thats kinda what I was thinking. When I originally installed them I did not over tighten them. Just back them out slowly, then bolt the new bracket up to snug, then hang the new display.

When you tightend them in the first time, did you use a drill? I used a drill for mine, but then got a socket out and tightend them down the rest of the way, this way it avoided over tightening the bolts.

    You're getting another tv?

When I put this one in, I did it all by hand with a ratchet/socket. That way when I felt it snug, I stopped.

You should be fine. If you're worried, you can fill the holes with wood putty, let dry, then retap them..

Let me mull it over, I have to figure out how to get it here, and what's that going to cost. I also said I wasn't going to buy any new toys besides my scopes.

I would like a bigger tv, and I know you take care of your stuff.
