The NFD recently wrote that the Xbox One and PS4 will sell 100M units each this generation. I have a really hard time believing this. In fact, I think console gaming is ripe for disruption and a total revision on how we play games at home. I think Apple, Amazon, Google, or Steam (not going happen with Steambox) will come out with a console to change the game again. Each new recent gaming generation has always brought something new to the table in terms of game changing technology (like the Xbox did with Xbox Live and multiplayer) and I’m not seeing that with this generation. It just more of the same with better graphics. I'm waiting for a console that fully embraces the cloud, gets yearly revisions like a Tablet or Phone, and is fully backwards compatible. Technology is moving too fast for a 5-7 year life cycle with Tablets\Phones getting more and more powerful. It's going to be interesting what will become of the console gaming sector in the near future.
