Don't forget about this "free" show. Chance to see one of the best, if not the best, lighter guys in the world. Torres isn't fighting a cupcake, either. Tune in.

KTFO'd!
I don't know if he thought he was invincible (that first right hand inside of 30 seconds probably clued him in on this), but he's also not exceedingly careful (kind of like Anderson Silva). Torres and Silva remind me a lot of each other because of their long arms, pinpoint punching, and sick counters, but Silva doesn't usually take chances when he gets a guy hurt. He may put his hands down and stick his chin out, but he won't wade in against a dangerous guy because the guy is hurt. He knows he'll get you eventually, so why take the risk.
Miguel is asking himself the same thing tonight. It's gonna be a great rematch. I'm hoping they fight again right now instead of bringing in someone else to fight Bowles. Winning the title is about 10 times easier than defending it, and you might as well give the ex-champ first shot. Otherwise, he may never get a chance to avenge the loss. If Rampage somehow gets the LHW title, for example, he'll never get to fight Forrest again unless it's later in his career (a la Chuck/Wandy). I don't see Griffin ever challenging for the title. He doesn't have enough pop in his hands or steel in his jaw.
Did I mention....![]()
yea,
I think they should give torres another shot if he turns out to be the #1 contender still.
If there is someone else out there ranked higher than Torres will have to wait in line if things are being done right.
But if I know the fans/reporters/commentators, They will rank torres #2.
Boy, Frank Mir sure has been wrong alot lately.
He called Torres the best pound for pound fighter out there , which I never agreed with. Not even close.
I think Torres is way overrated anyway. I always have.
On top of that, I have never respected him.
Any fighter that comes to the ring sporting mexican flags and mariachi music, while they have been living inside the united states for most/all of thier life always bothers me to see. He gets a break like he did, and decideds to pay homage to Mexico instead of America. That shows poor character IMO.
He should be wearing american flags.
Thats just my opinion though.
I am 100% Irish blood and my family is from there, but there is no way I would start listening to irish music and wearing Irish flags if I was champ.

See, I've always been a huge fan and proponent of Torres. He shows nothing but respect and class to his opponents. I've never noticed the Mexican flag trunks, but I tend not to pay attention to that stuff.
Is this the only thing that bothers you about him? Actions speak louder than words (or trunks), and he's always shown himself to be a class act. I think he's one of the top 5 P4P fighters in the world. His biggest flaw is obviously his balls-to-the-wall style, and that's a flaw I'd much rather watch than a guy who is overly cautious (GSP as of late, Anderson as of late). He is aggressive at all times, be it standing or on the ground (even when he's in the bottom position). I absolutely love to watch him fight as much or more than any other fighter out there (Faber is in the same boat for me, though Mike Brown may be just too dang strong for anyone at 145).
Bowles is a big, strong dude (for that division), though, and now is when we find out what Miguel is really made of. Many fighters aren't the same once they've had their lights put out, so I'm hoping he comes back strong.
My $0.02.
