Default American cage fighter 'rips out still-beating heart of training partner...

    WTF...

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worl...lls-heart.html

    WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT
Arrested: Jarrod Wyatt was allegedly found standing naked over his dead friend's body in a room bathed in blood

A U.S. cage fighter ripped out the heart of his training partner while he was still alive after becoming convinced he was possessed by the devil, it was alleged today.

Jarrod Wyatt also cut out Taylor Powell's tongue and ripped off most of his face in a brutal assault that police said looked like a scene from a horror film, officers said.

They claim they found the 26-year-old standing naked over his friend's body with parts, including an eyeball, strewn around the blood splattered room in Klamath, California.
Wyatt allegedly told police he had drunk a cup of tea spiked with hallucinogenic mushrooms and became convinced Powell was possessed.
According to an autopsy Powell, 21, bled to death after his heart was ripped out.
The coroner said Powell had been alive when the organ was ripped out after his chest had been sliced open with a knife.
Wyatt told the police he thrown the heart into a fire along with other organs that he had removed from the body, it was claimed.

He allegedly told investigators he cooked the body parts because he was fearful Powell was still alive and he ‘needed to stop the Devil’.
Police had been called to the grisly scene after a third friend had witnessed a sudden mood change in Wyatt after they had all ingested wild mushroom tea.
Justin Davis told police he returned to the flat to find Wyatt naked and covered from head to toe in blood.
He noticed an eyeball lying in the middle of the floor and saw Powell's mutilated body.
A lawyer representing Wyatt has claimed the wild mushrooms caused him to act in such a violent way and had not control over his actions.
‘My client was trying to silence the devil,’ said James Fallman.
‘I think he was having a psychotic fit based on the mushrooms he had.’
Wyatt has been charged with first degree murder and torture.
Prosecutors added the torture charge as Powell was still alive when his heart was removed.

Recreational use is one thing, but that is abuse to the extreme.

Damn, that has to be a terrible way to die. To actually see your own heart just before dying.

That guy has a serious problem to do such a gory act.

I believe your absolutely right. I can't see mushroom high creating was the sole reason for this hideous act. He had to have some twisted hatred bottled up and the mushroom was just enough for him to reach his breaking point.

Yeah, I think it's very clear this guy was seriously messed up long before the psilocybin entered his body. I'm not sure that stuff was even needed as a catalyst, except perhaps to enhance his paranoia. Now, don't get me wrong--I friggin' hate MMA and think it is, in essence, a "sport" that glorifies sociopathic rage and narcissism, but I don't see blaming this one on the industry.

    David

I agree this was a case of an evil mind just waiting to explode, I feel the MMA and Ultimate fighting episodes are full of people who just like to dish out punishment with no regard to personal injuries received or inflicted but I don't believe their possessed by homicidal tendencies like this sick fukker was.

I disagree. Most of the guys in the sport are level headed and leave all the fury in the octagon. They know they are trained fighters, and their hands can be considered deadly weapons, and they act cool. There are neanderthals, but even Books a Million has those. I believe in the need for males to act like males, and sports like boxing and martial arts allow that. The discipline it requires has turned many a life around. There are some out there that would have all male children growing up watching teletubbies, and anything non violent (fanatics out there would love to remove all masculinity). We might as well castrate ourselves.

Well, here we will have to disagree, I think. I refuse to equate all aggression with violence or all violence with brutality. IMO, brutality, like human cruelty, really has no excuse. And MMA is unequivocally brutal.

My point is that I don't feel there is anything "brutal" about martial arts, boxing, etc... You have two well trained fighters, with rules, looking to best each other in competition. Now the gladiator days, that was brutality. Untrained slaves forced to fight.

Well, here again I suspect we'll disagree. I do think modern MMA is brutal. Classical martial arts most certainly is not and indeed I find that beautiful, but the MMA I've seen is a bunch of bloodlust in HD. Idunno--maybe I've only seen the worst MMA, though. That's entirely possible, as I've no taste for it and so have only seen a very little bit.

So is Football, Hockey, boxing, and every other contact sport. If you don't think so, try to play them on any level. Your body takes a beating playing these sports. To say they are human cruelty is a bit extreme. To classify all MMA fighters in that catergory is absurd. That's like saying all teachers are sexual deviants, becasue a few teachers made some poor choices in taking advantage of young children. Fighters fight with rules, as well as, any other profession, their is rules and regulations, and when someone in a certain proffession breaks them, we can't hold everyone in that field accountable.

There has never been a death in sancutioned MMA fight..

This is correct. If this guy wasn't just flat out aggressive all the time then yeah he had a serious mental disorder just sitting there waiting to be ignited. Shrooms distort reality and can mimic psychotic/schizophrenic behavior in unstable people. This guy's mind simply couldn't handle whatever amount of shrooms was in that tea and he had a psychotic break. I'm sure all this disgusting shit he did to his sparring partner seemed perfectly A-OK at the time, but now he's going to have to live with it for the rest of his life. Hallucinogenic drugs are not to be played around with unless you can handle them and this guy obviously couldn't.

    Hi House,

Please carefully re-read what I wrote. I did not say MMA is human cruelty; I said it is brutal. Then I drew an analogy between the moral standing of brutality and cruelty. I hope you see the difference. Also, I never classified all MMA fighters in the categories of cruel people or brutal people; I only asserted of the overall sport itself that it is, from what I have seen, brutal. I also happen to regard American boxing as brutal and for that reason refuse to watch it. Hockey and football, however, while certainly violent, I actually do not classify as brutal. The difference I see here is that in boxing and MMA injury is the objective, whereas in football and hockey, assuming they are played honorably, injury is an understood and expected element, but not the objective; scoring goals is the objective. To me, that's a big difference.

    Yours,

    David
