Clay Guida

Clay Guida is one of my favorite figthers. Whenever he's on a card, I know it's going to be a good fight. I dig his energy and how he mixes up an slugfest with a good ground game. Of his 5 losses, 3 have been by decision and the other 2 have been by submission.

There is something about Clay that is missing, and I don't quite know what it is. Perhaps it is how reckless he gets at times, but I just think he is a solid fighter who I believe can get a title shot if he strings together a couple more wins.

Do you guys think Guida can be a legitimate title contender in the lightweight division? It seems like whenever he runs a few wins together, Dana gives him a shot against a name and he falls short. Take a look at who he has beat and who he has lost to:

Wins: Rafael dos Anjos, Shannon Gugerty, Nate Diaz, Mac Danzig, Samy Schiavo, Marcus Aurelio, Justin James.

Losses: Kenny Florian, Diego Sanchez, Roger Huerta, Tyson Griffin, Din Thomas

It'd be nice to see The Carpenter come through in a big fight at some point.

I like Clay, he fights with such energy, it's amazing.. He does need to slow it down a bit, I think he gets to over hyped and misses on chances to in fights.. I would also like to see him win a big one.. I just think he needs to calm down though during the fights..

He's not a douchebag either. He's got class. You know what, the UFC has some jerkoffs, but I'd say most of the fighters have a ton of respect for each other.

I like these, "get to know you favorite fighter" posts you are doing!

I like the carpenter as well. He puts it all on the line in his fights, which is all I expect from these guys.

Yes, I do agree with you War, I like the get to know the fighters post too.. Keep up the good work Sobay..

Clay does go balls to the walls.. I still remember that kick to the face he took. I was amazed he got up..

Yep, it was crazy that he took that and kept coming. Which makes it pretty impressive that Ken Flo was able to stop Clay pretty easy.
