Arrow Rumor: Sony's Blu-ray adopted on another console, the Wii 2

A marketing employee from Nintendo France (through www.logic-sunrise.com) passed along apparently leaked Wii 2 information to MaxConsole.net. If this rumor is at all true, Sony's arduous effort is finally paying off, as we see a competing console adopting Sony's native Blu-ray technology.

I hope this becomes fact, since I really liked the Wii, but could never buy one since the resolution wasn't at least 720p, and all games weren't formatted for widescreen

That'd be pretty good news for Wii fans, and Blu Ray fans!

Breaking Down the Nintendo Wii 2 with Blu-ray Rumor

The launch of PS3 Slim in September forcibly pushed Nintendo Wii from its comfortable top-selling perch. What was once the darling of the economically viable console world became far less relevant in an instant.

I also heard this rumor for the last few months or so. I will be very surprised if Nintendo doesn't do this for next Christmas. Their Wii sales are starting to dive a bit and Nintendo doesn't seem to be averse to releasing incremental updates to their systems anymore. Plus Sony and MS is releasing their motion controllers next year to be like the Wii, so I guess Nintendo will have to make their system more in line with Sony and MS.

I wish MS would do the same and make a "slim" 360 that kills RRODs once and for all and incorporates builtin bluray and wifi.
