Maybe I'm getting old, but none of this excites me.

Yep. Really I think they blew the doors off of what MS had to show. And I'm no Nintendo Fanboy either. I just think the software line-up especially Metroid and Zelda were better than anything MS had to show. Plus I'm always a sucker for new Hardware. And I can't wait to see what the NO GLASSES 3D looks like on the 3DS.

Code-name no more, the official moniker for the Nintendo 3DS is...the Nintendo 3DS.
The NINTENDO 3DS is the Kyoto-base game company's successor to its wildly popular Nintendo DS line. It is Nintendo's fourth general handheld gaming system after the Game Boy, the Game Boy Advance and the Nintendo DS.

    Here is what we know

    • The Nintendo 3DS is black and blue
    • As promised, this is a glasses-free 3D device
    • Two cameras on the outside of the device for 3D picture taking
    • 3D depth slider on the side of the device
    • Round numb analog stick called the "Slide Pad"
    • Bottom screen is a touch panel
    • Below the touch screen are Select, Home and Start buttons
    • Underneath the A, B, X, Y buttons is the handheld's power button
    • Motion sensor and gyroscope
    • Compatible with Nintendo DSi
    • A camera facing the player above the portable's 3D screen
    • The ability to play 3D Hollywood movies, like Legends of the Guardians from Warner Brothers

The NINTENDO 3DS was first hinted at in an Asahi Newspaper article in January 2010. In an official release this past March, Nintendo said portable, then codenamed the Nintendo 3DS, would enable games to be "enjoyed with 3D effects without the need for any special glasses".

At first I was bummed that Kid Icarus was coming out on the 3DS because I don't want to have to wear glasses to game. Then I realized the 3D is not going to need glasses and I became stoked! Everything I've been reading says the promo for the game they showed looked awesome.

Engadget's short hands on with the 3DS.

That Nintendo announced the 3DS was not a surprise -- that they had a couple-dozen of these things to try out, that was. We elbowed our way to the front of the line to try one out, and the effect is actually not bad. It's not great, but the 3.5-inch screen on top certainly gives a firm illusion of depth without resorting to glasses -- or eye crossing. The feel is definitely reminiscent of those 3D cereal box prints, and as soon as you turn the device from left to right to try to look around anything the effect is immediately lost. You need to stare at the screen for a moment for your eyes to adjust and then not move around too much. If you do you'll need to adjust again. But, stay reasonably still and it's a compelling effect.

The new analog slider on the left feels a lot like the PSP's analog nub, but larger and without the texture. It's a bit easier on the fingers, and comfortable. Overall the device feels just like a current DS or DSi, though we couldn't get a good feel for the weight thanks to a bulky tether attached on one end to the device, and on the other end to the row of ladies who were surely told to not let the gadgets out of their hands or face certain doom. We snagged a few pics before getting elbowed out of the way, so check 'em out!

I don't see the 3DS in this picture anywhere, do you?

Haha. A friend of mine posted on his facebook that Tiger Woods had already ordered all the 3DS's at the event as long as they came with what they were attached too.

That looks like it will sell alot of units, especially this Xmas. What great looking gift for the kids.
