    ATTENTION NEW OWNERS!!!!

When you get your Kuro out of the box and try to power it on, Make Sure you have the Main Power Switch pressed.

Otherwise, You may return a perfectly working Kuro!!

Here is a picture to help!!!'

BLT had this problem when he bought his Kuro a month ago. I had to tell him where the switch is. This happens all the time!!!

    Default Powering up the 5020

Good info! I had the same problem with mine. I finally found the power button after several tries' I, too, thought there was a problem with the set.

I'll admit to this foolishness. When I moved into my new house I mounted by Kuro and the damn thing wouldn't turn on! I unmounted it, checked it out, plugged it into different outlets etc.... I thought the movers fuqed it up on the move!

I was full panic mode for 2 freaking hours until my Wife's Uncle said "what's this button do under here"? DUH!!!!!!!!

I felt like a complete idiot!!!!

I should make this a sticky!

Here are some pictures of my Non-Elite (before I upgraded to an elite) to emphasize how the blacks disappear into the bezel.
I made sure that I took these pictures when there was an actual input being displayed (instead of after the 30second pixel shutoff) These pictures were taken with in a totally dark room. One shot with the camera flash, One without.

That's great stuff Chad. I know when I watch movies on my Elite, I'm always amazed how flawlessly the blacks disappear in the the bezel. It's as if the image is just floating there.

Chad, what settings did you use on your 5020FD? DNices? I tried them and I did NOT like his settings.

    Cant remember exactly.
But I used D-Nices settings as a basepoint, and then adjusted to my liking.

I used movie mode for sure.

I calibrated the conrast and brightness per the DVE disk.

I still have my DVE disk if one of you guys want to borrow it.

    something like this i think.

    Picture:
    AV Selection: Movie
    Contrast: 40
    Brightness: 0
    Color: -4
    Tint: R1
    Sharpness: 0

    Pure Cinema

Film Mode: Advance for blu-ray/ standard for cableHD
    Text Optimization: Off

    Power Save Mode: Off

    Orbiter: Mode 2

I really love the movie mode in Kuro's. I find myself using that as a base point in movies more and more...
