Default Runco Introduces a Sub-$4,000 Projector

You read that right. Runco has announced one its most affordable projectors ever. Part of the company's LightStyle Series of DLP projectors, the new LS-1 is a single-chip, 1080p DLP projector with a listed contrast ratio of over 10,000:1. The projector uses several proprietary Runco technologies, including SuperOnyx with ConstantContrast and ViVix digital video processing. It features ISF calibration tools, horizontal and vertical lens shifting, dual HDMI inputs, and RS-232, and it supports the addition of an optional anamorphic lens. This is not a 3D-capable projector.

    Hi elwaylite,

I have recently calibrated one of these bad boys. It is based on a Planar chassis from a few years back. It has very good light output, and great calibration tools that enable it to produce a very accurate picture. My only real complaint with it is that it does not process RGB to 16-235, but rather uses the PC values for RGB of 0-255. This means whites and blacks are slightly clipped for video sources like Blu-ray.
