Default Samsung SP-A900B DLP Projector (HTM Review)

Coming off a review of the Sony BRAVIA VPL-VW85 SXRD projector (Home Theater, November 2009) and recent exposure to JVCís 2009 offerings, all of which produce stunning blacks, I found the Samsungís absolute black level to be a little retro. But itís still comparable to most DLP projectors, and itís similar to what youíll see in a good movie theater.

And it's highly overpriced compared to the other 2 mentioned.

    Hi DigitalDoctor,

Yeah, from joerod's review and from others on the net, that Sony really looks like the new projector to beat, which in my mind also makes it the projector to buy.

I'm quite impressed with the new Panasonic AE4000, much less expensive but holds it's own. See here - http://www.projectorcentral.com/pana...tor_review.htm

"Since the AE4000's picture quality not only surpasses the competitors in its price range, but rivals and in some cases exceeds that of "high-end" models selling for five times the price or more, it warrants a solid 5 stars for performance. Since it has more features than any other home theater projector ever built, 5 stars is not even enough to illustrate its distinction in this category. Similarly, its ease of use is unrivaled-perfect color calibration out of the box in Cinema 1 mode, smart menus that are easy to navigate, lens memory to accommodate 2.40 super widescreen without an anamophic lens-no other projector has all of these things, and most have none of them" www.projectorcentral.com

Wow doc that is a great price for someone just venturing into the projector scene, I mean at that price why worry about room darkening and such , one could just use it at night and still have a nice bright flat panel for daytime viewing kinda somewhat my thoughts on HT in my home , A night time theater look with a blu ray or HD TV with the projector and a typical HT during the day in the same room, nice..
