    Re: Time for some upgrades!

They are toed in. One corner is 16" and the other is 20"

The whole thing sounds a LOT better now.

    Re: Time for some upgrades!

Thanks guys, I agree it looks better with subs inside.

    It also improved the sound.

Using CSI as an example for 5.1, the center sounds like it is coming from the screen. When the fronts are...

I agree, I wasted so much $$$ on audio when I first started big in 2003.

After some talks, I moved the subs inside the towers last night. I think the look is actually better. I am hoping to air...
  5. Re: Paradigm Prestige 15B Speaker System Review

Audio is flooded with diminishing returns. Look at the preamp I have. Twice as much as an AVR with pre outs, and surely doesnt sound twice as better, if any.

Same with speakers, which is why when...

  7. Re: Paradigm Prestige 15B Speaker System Review

Yeah, I mean I can do a Klipsch 5 channel system with the speakers I have now, + dual VTF15's for $6k. It would curb stomp that Paradigm system.

    Re: Time for some upgrades!

Luckily they are all efficient, but even with that the towers can drop into 2 ohm realm and the amp is a benefit. I was shocked at how much larger that center was than the previous model.

Re: GOS just ordered a new Denon X4000 AVR!

It'll be hard to downsize a sub and get better performance.

The 15" subs pretty much smoke any 12" sub, and the big volume ported 15" subs usually outperform a 15" sealed small sub too. I think...

    Re: Time for some upgrades!

Yeah, I think this setup has plenty of ass behind it. Can't wait to watch some good action movies. I havent had a lot of time since getting the new towers, so maybe we can watch one this weekend.

    Re: Time for some upgrades!

Thats kinda why I have been using pure for stereo, it sounds quite good on the new towers and the dual 10's have plenty of bump.

Of course you can pay $199 for the Auro3D upgrade :9d8dbc1c: and...

Well, the other issue is this year there is no PLII music mode, it's called Dolby Surround and a LOT of people hate it.

    Re: Time for some upgrades!

Still sound great for HT, but I really like the 2 channel music with just the 7ii's.

Found some more threads around where others have observed the same. One solution is to cross the subs/fronts...

    Re: Time for some upgrades!

    1) I did not see any issues on the AC side, but the DC side (with the plasma off) was a mostly steady reading. When the plasma was on it began to fluctuate, but if I hit a very bright scene (field of...

    1) I got the emotiva CMX-2 in, and it killed the transformer growl due to DC offset from the plasma. I won't be putting the AV7702 on it because the transformer is not toroidal. Check...
