Default Got an adcom gfa 545.

So the wife got me an adcom gfa 545 for Christmas. So Now I have the 545 powering the front left and right and the gfa 535 powering the center. Damn this thing is in mint shape, I know I say that allot when I buy used gear, but this thing looks like it just came off the showroom floor!!!! I am really digging these adcom's right now, I know they are not the best amps out there and that they are older, but damn does it make a big improvement on the sound!!! I know I have said it before but those of you not running separates need to start doing so, the highs, mids, and dynamics are just so much better. Here is a couple pic's I robbed from google.

Thanks!!! I dig used gear. When I bought my speakers I pay the guy and he is standing there looking down at the money and then looks at the speakers and says " You know buying this stuff used is the only way to go, I bought those new and am selling them for next to nothing compared to what I paid, and they hardly got used!"

Caliber. If I had the cash I know a guy that will sell me a Lexicon RX-7 for $2000. I'm a noob at amps so I have no idea if that's a good deal or not.

Those are above my and my customers pay grade so I don't know much except that lexicon are great amps. One thing I will say is you are going to want about $4,000 minimum in loudspeakers before you go with an amp like that.

Honestly my gfa 535 sounds much better. I had been wanting to add two more 535's to make a total of three, and this guy we got the 545 had two 535's he was going to sell for the same as one 545. I honestly don't know why I went with the 545, other than I wanted to try it out in my setup, and it was less wiring, to deal with. See the 535 is a dual mono amp (two separate power supplies) and I thought it would be cool to have bi amped the loud speakers and one on each speaker on the front sound stage, thus resulting in having a separate power supply to each tweeter and separate power supplies to the mid range's. Kinda kicking my self for going with the one 545 now, but what ever still sounds nice!!

I was wrong. Just texted him he wanted $4000. I don't really know the guy except as a business contact. The man has a hell of a setup in his basement. He has a 20x20 room full of vinyl. Unreal.

Man that would be cool to be able to do something like that. Yeah a quick google search showed two grand was a pretty good deal.

So Caliber. In a 5.1 setup you would need 3 amps like yours? 1 for the fronts, 1 for the rears, 1 for the center?

Need to re calibrate but the bass in my towers is definitely back. Also find a better way to set the mic up for ez set, and that helped allot.

Depends on your avr, some are assholes and will make you use all out boards if you even try to hook one up. With mine I could run one mono block for the center and power the rest with the avr. Most avr's provided they have pre outs will let you add an amp to what ever channel you want. Best to start out with a stereo amp to the Fl and FR for 2.0/2.1 music enjoyment. That really is where you hear the biggest difference is with music, at least from my experience. I notice it with movies too, but music is where the big WOW factor is.

It is decent, if you could pick it up for $150 that is a good deal, I got mine for $200 in brand new condition. I notice that one is a bit scratched up. For $150 you could get a great idea of what separates are all about.

I know - I don't think I'd be very happy with a scratchy piece of equipment.

For future reference on adcom pricing do your self a favor and check with me, I consider my self an expert on the pricing of them since I have been watching them sell time and time again over the past year.

Yeah it is a good price for the condition they normally are going for about $250 on average. Black shoe polish will go along ways on some of those scratches.
