    Default 2 CHANNEL AMP DISCUSSION

Thanks to Caliber - I am finding some interest in pursuing separates. Well, at least I am considering taking very small steps. Step 1 might be to purchase a modest USED 2 channel amp to drive my front speakers. There seem to be lots of used amps available on the market. I'd like to know...what are some basic "have to haves" regarding an amp? Obviously, if I'm driving the 2 fronts, it needs to be 2 channel. What else? What specs matter the most and can make the biggest difference?

Also consider that just because I'm debating separates...doesn't mean I have to have high end by any means. Fact is - I'm hoping to find something well under $200. HAS to be in excellent condition. I refuse to stick some scuffed up junker into my rack just because the price is right.

How about this?? He is asking $150 and it is in excellent condition... (I'd post a pic, but I no longer know how without Firefox...only have Explorer)

    Description (Harman Kardon PA2100)
Harmam/KardonPower Amp Up for your consideration is my Harman/Kardon Power amp.The PL2100 is rated at a conservative 65 watts RMS but has headroom of 85 watts of dynamic power all at 0.09%THD. The amp can also be use in bridged mono mode with an output of 130 watts. Its sound is powerful with good bass articulation plus it is dead quiet. The unit is 17.75W x 4.25H x 13.75D and weighs about 20 lbs. It is in very good condition and plays without any issues. Its signal to noise ratio is 115dB and the damping factor is 100 so you know the bass is tight. It has a switchable auto on and impedance selector switch. Very hi level sound for not a lot of money. Paypal users please add 3.5% to grand total Thanks.

Gos I would give that h/k a try if it were me. H/K is known for great rich full sound. I have no experience with that amp but can say another contender in that price range is the adcom gfa 535. What I like about the 535 is the dual mono design by the legendary nelson pass. Now that is not to say the H/K isn't a sweet amp for the money it is just that I know the 535 is a real performer.
