Home Theater ReviewThe new, nine-channel, PA-MC5500 takes its place as Onkyo's top of the line amplifier. Being a nine-channel amplifier the PA-MC5500 is a good match with the new group of nine-channel processors (including the recently reviewed Onkyo PR-SC5508). Even if your home theater system is a more traditional five of seven channel setup, the nine channels of amplification provide a variety of setup options. The extra channels can be used for bi-amplification or to drive two stereo zones in addition to a 5.1 system.
I really get annoyed when they can't be bothered to put more pictures in the article...I dunno, maybe I just like pictures, and yeah, it's only an amp, but still...
Interesting how it got "very warm" after a few hours. I honestly don't ever recall my amp getting warm, even after extended periods of time.
Seems like a reasonable review - might be nice for a game (billiards, darts, etc..) room.
I care more about a back shot than a front shot on amps/rcvrs. Only Onkyo I ever owned blistered the shelf above it in the ent center, but that was a 605 AVR.
Have you ever been around a Krell or Pass Labs amps? Those are true space heaters.
