cant get volume to work though hdmi on my st 30

hello all. i have a Scientitifc alanta hd 4250 box and i have it connected
with hdmi going from the box to the tv iam able to use the Scientitifc alanta box to turn off and on the tv but i cant get the volume to work
i programed the Scientitifc alanta remote but it still dont work.
what is going on. the volume only works if i use high def cables

i can hear the volume though the tv speakers
but i cant use the remote to use the volume up or down or mute

So the remote will not control the TV volume, even though the TV can be cut on and off with the SA remote?

If so, sometimes there are more than one code, and some codes do not work properly.

i called cable and they gave me another code now im able to use the volume on the tv
with the cable remote
