2012 Panasonic TC-P50UT50 Netflix Flickering/Stuttering

Yes, I tried searching before posting, but all the results that came up were discussions that were 337 pages long (no seriously, I didn't randomly make that number up) and did not show which page my search terms were on, so forgive me if this is an over-asked question.

I recently purchased a 2012 Panasonic TC-P50UT50 and have just begun using the built-in Netflix app. And it is giving me fits. Every few minutes it is flickering for a second or two. Like a couple of black frames are inserted into whatever I'm watching. It has been happening with all kinds of content - movies, recent TV series, old Star Trek episodes, you name it. And tonight, in addition to the flicker, it seemed to be "stuttering" - like when you are playing an FPS game and your frame rate takes a nosedive.

Is this a known issue? Can it be corrected by messing with the settings? Has it something to do with the refresh rate? Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like the bug on the 2011 players. Netflix uses adaptive streaming and changes quality on the fly with your speed. They had an annoying black flash when it would change, which is not how it should function.

I just got a TC-P50UT50 to replace a TC-P50S30 (S30 had fluctuating brightness issues) and now I'm seeing black flashes on netflix. I'm reviewing things I watched on netflix with the 2011 S30 model and it seems i've traded one problem for another (fluctuating brightness for netflix black flickering).

Jason's explanation sounds plausible. A better internet connection might help. Are you wired or wireless (a wired connection will almost always be faster, more consistent, and more reliable), and who is your ISP?

I have an ethernet connection and have uverse as my internet provider. Again, this didn't happen in my 2011 s30 model.

Ditto same happens on my ST50. I started using my PS3 for netflix instead no problems there
