I can't get beyond something that's patently physically impossible, like how he took the police out of the picture. That was just lazy writing IMHO.
Maybe something got left on the cutting room floor to explain it better, but it wasn't in the movie so it kind of ruined the movie after that point for me.
This isn't the Avengers or Avatar where you can write something in and say "it's alien magic" and move on. His batman's where supposed to be a bit more grounded in reality, not Sci Fi.
I like every other Nolan movie, this one just seems to be a slave to his whims instead of good film making. It was neither a summer action blockbuster or a small thinking well written art film. It was a car crash between them and suffered for that.
It also reminded me a bit to much of "Return of the Jedi", a movie that just sort of re-hashed the last 2 a little to much.

Well here are some other points of view. These guys are usually pretty darned accurate.

Rotten Tomatoes gave it an 87 and they usually tear up a movie.

Great movie. Lots of missed opportunities for extreme greatness and a few leaps of logic, but an excellent film nonetheless.

Went and saw it this afternoon. Damn what a good flick!!!! The last 30-45 min of the movie really make the whole movie. I got goose bumb's at the end. Definitely worth going to the theater for IMO.
Don't see how anyone could not love this movie, and to say it is Nolans weakest movie, thuss far is a statement I just don't get. First time in a long, long time I left the theater happy. I mean to each there own, but it is right on par with the last two Batmans. Better than the begins and in some ways better than dark knight.

Color me unimpressed. Easiest way for me to know how I felt, is whether I leave the theater wondering how long before it comes out on blu. I can sympathize with all the negative reviews, rushed, holes in time, some cheesy effects, piss poor ending...
Now let me be straight, it was a good movie, especially in today's trend of shit pile flicks, but after the bar they have set with the quality of the first two, it def falls at the bottom of Nolan Batman flicks for me. Im not sure Ill even buy it, because I don't think I want to watch it again since it has no replay value for me at this point, especially not like TDK.
I now eagerly await the next installment of these flicks with some new blood at the helm.

You should see Begins and Dark Knight (1 and 2), great films.

And part 3. Jason's opinion is in the minority.
I own some stuff.
He should watch all 3, it'll be obvious which order to rank them. #3 = 3rd place![]()

I disagree. I think Rises is the best overall film of the 3. And I've seen it 4 times.
I own some stuff.
4 times, I'd take water boarding instead.
I think they were filming the movie, and at about 2 hours of boring shit, they realized they had to ffwd to finish the thing in 30 mins.
The whole back healing thing, and 15 mins movie time in a hole for 5 months real time, for a comeback, gimme a break. I expect more from Nolan, some of that was as disjointed as bayformers 2. Did they have a writers strike during this movie I never heard about?

That's what I don't get. You guys are gushing on this movie when it did some of the same things the "others" do.
Ah well, here is to looking forward to the next chapter. I love batman, and look forward to more.

I would put Rises 2nd to TDK, slightly ahead of Begins because Begins failed to have a movie-wide, terrifying villian. The presence of a true villain really helps the 2nd and 3rd film. Sure, Ra's was there and scarecrow, but the bulk of the film lacked any definitive villain

I'll agree with you on Begins, fun part of it was him going thru becoming Batman, introduction of the tumbler, etc...
