The wall behind us is the same width as the front wall, once you have the couch, table between my wife and I, and my chair, nothing left. I also have the furniture up against that wall. I hate a rectangular living room this small, it's just not setup well for big things. Hell, when I added those big Klipsch towers, you cant see half the tv now from a side seat...

I'm almost to the point Im pissed about the whole search for another sub LOL.

I totally understand. Those of us with a far from perfect room for our toys fight the fight on a regular basis. You recall, I even went to bookshelf fronts...got pissed and returned those.... for my monster Klipsch...lmao. Then, got a sub that completely dominates the area. I don't give a shit....but the wife is less than pleased. Hell, I even kept my original Klipsch towers and stuck them in the back.

    Lol.

On the sub, Im kinda resolved to either second VTF2, or dual 15" PSA. Part of me says just spend the $600 on the Hsu and go about my life...

The PC13 Ultra was an option, but the more I look at that cylinder, the uglier it gets. Two of those would be great in a HT room in corners, but not in my living room.

FWIW, I think adding another VTF 2 is a great idea. Though I don't know if that is going to accomplish what you are looking for. Bro relax and try to enjoy it!! The good new's is you get to buy a new sub, so try and enjoy yourself.

I can see you are stressing a bit, bottom line is you can't make a mistake all subs mentioned in this thread will put a smile on your face!!

What I have to realize, is I enjoy the crap outta movies now (going from the small Def Tech speakers and Klipsch sub to the Klipsch towers and Hsu sub was huge), I mean bumps in scary movies are enough to make me jump, and some good rap music/rock really sounds good. So, while I can't fit some 16hz eating output machine in here, I will have nice speakers coupled with 2 nice 12" subs.

    Could be worse

I think I'll use the xtra money and put some subs in my car LOL

Well, I guess it depends on what you take as "a lot". I just meant that in the universe of available subwoofers, the great majority lack such capability. Most start pooping out at around 40 Hz.

This is simply untrue. Theaters sub's may not go much lower than that, but that does not mean that bass is not in the track. Here is a good link to a list with sub 20hz. bass LINK I agree there are not a ton of movies out there with sub sonic bass, but there are some.
I didn't say that it doesn't happen -- just that it's most likely unintentional when it does. The guys mixing the soundtrack probably aren't aware of that stuff if they're working with equipment that can't reproduce it. And if they did know it was there, I'd half expect them to filter the real infrasonic stuff out to protect the subs in the theaters (although they may typically be fed through high-pass filters anyway -- dunno).

The main ones, in my research, that are good subs as well as digging deep are the Rythmik, PB13U, Seaton, JTR, JL and the new PSA subs. eD could be counted, but I think they are pretty much out of business, because folks on AVS are now filing legal claims. One dude did get his subs after 6 months LOL. VTF15h is not bad, but as stated, Hsu has intentionally aimed at that 30-80hz range.

Now all the sub $1000 subs hitting low, mostly not, and you really need something better than a 12", or one helluva 12. I mean my VTF2 rattles shit at 16hz test tones, but its not a lot of dB's. Im not sure I like 20hz and below in my living room. Whenever it hits in a movie, all I get out of it is a rattling fire place...

Well, the VTF2 is sold so no turning back now LOL.

I did two card board cut outs of the foot print of two big 15" subs, and to my surprise, laying them out on top of the vtf 2 offers little worry. I can get a 15" ffiring front port sub close to the wall with the right angle rca adapter I posted about, so the front of the sub actually sticks out slightly further than the VTF2 (had to allow 3" for rear ports). The width is not an issue. The cool thing is this allows me to put the larger 15" sub in the same spot my VTF2 is now, which I had already proven to be the higher output spot I could choose for my subs (sub crawl and meter). The cutout really did the trick, walking around with just a tape measure did not give me the full picture. Other than the switches on the back, there is not really any space requirement for a front firing front ported sub with regards to the rear wall, is there?

Sounds like everything is coming together nicely!! So are you still going with the Rythmik, or are you going with the HSU.

Threshold of audibility (that is, just barely discernible by ear) at 16 Hz is about 80 dB SPL, and it's about 75 dB SPL at 20 Hz. So for stuff at these very low frequencies to actually sound loud, the level has to be extremely high. The physical effect can be more apparent, however. I remember reading a while back about research indicating that high-levels of 7-Hz sound actually makes people sick; there was talk of creating a sort of sonic cannon to take advantage of the effect.
