Sales around Labor Day

I think we should have a section of the forum devoted to reoccurring sales times for tv's. So Labor day, Black Friday.... then general sales.

For instance I just caught the LN52B750 for $1,899 which is the lowest I have personally seen it. Looks like due to getting a jump start on labor day sales.

That's an awesome price for such a set--good find! It even includes a free wall mount, too! (Mr. Mays would be proud.) I'll have to dig around to see if I can find anything that'll match or beat that. Below is a link that AxGates found earlier today. The "huge sale" being touted is, apparently, yet another huge scam courtesy of the -oh-so-scrupulous bastards at Best Buy Corporate. Faugh! A Samsung PN50B860 plasma, which at Robert's shootout ran an uncontested second place (topped only by the Kuro 500M), for $1,600 on Amazon. Probably other vendors would be willing to match or even best that price. You can even support HDJ by navigating there via the Amazon Partner banner.

Now, that still comes nowhere near the absurd price to be found for the Panasonic G10, but it's pretty good, and I boldly and confidently attest that the B860 does deliver fantastic picture quality.

Hi Disco Batman,

$450 off for the 58" B860 is very compelling; that comes to $2,350. I saw a 50" version of it ($1,600 at Amazon now) at Robert's HDTV shootout this summer and I freely admit I was very impressed with its image quality. I never got close enough to it to check for buzz issues, so to that I cannot speak. PQ, though, was just killer.

What information do you base that 47LH90 is better then the 46a950? I have seen both and I would have to disagree. Now if you told me the 55LH90 and the 46a950 were the same price I would go for the extra size but I believe the samsung is better. LG refresh rate is poor and done differently then samsung. Not sure why there is more pop on the samsung, may be due to the screen, but blu-ray was much more alive.

There is just one piece of information. They are both 120Hz TV's, with the LG being 240 using backlight scanning. I've seen em both and the LG is far and away the better in my eyes.

Although the LG brand may look better they still have reliability issues and image retention problems with their plasma TV's...

Quite true, but the set they're discussing here is an LCD (no IR issues) and it actually far exceeds the PQ of LG's previous sets. Now, for reliability and build quality, I'm not sure I would trust LG or Samsung very much.
