Default Direct TV for me on Wednesday.

Had it with Charter. They are always screwing up my billing. My cable is off today and they say the problem cannot be fixed until Wednesday. When the charter tech comes I'll just hand him the DVRs and he can leave. Direct is due out the same day.

Nice. Xtra is a good pack, and you'll like multi room viewing. You should get an HR24, which is the speedy new rcvr, and you can record a tad over 100 hours of HD sat feeds.

If you dont like all the lights on the front of the DVR, lemme know, you can turn em off.

Will do. Will I have any problems with my Harmony 610 running the show?

Direct will be out on the 5th. Should I be worried if a subcontractor shows?

Mytime, I have no doubt you will like the PQ of the satellite better than cable on average. I tried my cable system three separate occasions, then finally left it for good many years ago. Cable PQ in my area always sucked, even with several different companies assuming the contract. I'll never go back!

Congrats mytime, and please keep us informed.

I wouldn't be too concerned if a sub contractor comes out. When Direct installed mine several years ago a sub installed it. A couple days later a supervisor came out to check how professional his work was. This was when the new 5lnb were new and the installers were having a time with them. I don't know if that is why they came out or not though. The checked his work over with a fine tooth comb. I asked if the sub was new or he had done crappy work in the past. He said No. We do this occasionally to make sure our subs do good work. He also said a lot of the installers had trouble tuning in the new dishes.

mytime, I think you'll be very happy with DirecTV... I've been with them now for about six months or so, after more than 20 years with Comcast and its' predecessors... The picture is better, the service is better, the bills don't have a million mistakes, and it never goes out... I shouldn't say that... I think there have been three or four occasions, during heavy rain storms, when the picture went out for ten minutes or so... I also agree with Elwaylite that you should get the HR24 if that's not the DVR they give you... (and there's a good chance it won't be.)

Id not worry. Directv has gotten a lot more strict in the last few years, trying to increase the quality of installs.
