There are still not many around in the US, we can not meet demand, as of yet

-- Chad B Calls or e-mails clients before calibrations are done. We have been doing it this way for just about 4 years now. Plasma's can be sent to maximum light output for day mode. However thats a bad idea for an LED, LED's can get to bright sometimes. That is why Chad likes to get to know his clients and there conditions. ** To each his own though **

Further, when you consider the ambient light conditions changes through the day and changes with each season and varying weather conditions knowing you room does not have a bearing on the calibration. Regarding ambient light I always drawing the window treatments and turning off all lights near the TV. The calibrations are taking longer than expected, but they are turning our very well. The VT30 is a beautiful TV with a lot of detailed settings to tweak the performance.-Robert
Thanks Robert! Getting exciting now that our sets will be shipping soon. Now the calibration was initially for one hdmi port, however D-Nice indicated he would calibrate as many ports as we needed. This I thought would be agreed to in a phone call prior to calibration. It appears we're not getting called now (not sure) so does that mean all HDMI ports will be calibrated? I personally need more than one port calibrated. Cheers! PS - Just sent You and D-Nice a PM. Thank you!

That's good to hear, really appreciate your updates on your tv. Do you see a difference when the contrast is set to a more normal 50 to 70 range(vs the 85)?

Here's an update on the VT30 calibrations...

VT30 calibrations have been going well with the end results being excellent as we would like and expect them to turn out. VT30s have a lot of detailed settings to manipulate to get the best possible results. But properly calibrated they turn out to be nothing short of excellent reference quality panels.

Panasonic's 2.060 upgrade enabled the 10 point controls in ISF day and night for 2D and 3D, but the calibrations were not without significant trouble as the color space and gamma was not able to be set properly. Thanks to D-Nice and Turbe of ControlCAL we now have a second program to help us get a near perfect calibration in ISF day and night. ControlCAL v2 gives us the additional controls to peak the performance and dial in the gamma as well as saving us time in getting the settings where they need to be. Without ControlCAL we would not be able to get the results we have obtained or be able to get through the volume of VT30s we are calibrating.

I have personally worked very hard along with Ed Johnson, Kevin Miller, D-Nice, Turbe of ControlCAL and all of the engineers and management at CalMAN and of course, Joel Silver of ISF. They have been fantastic to work with and I thank all of you fine gentlemen in making this difficult situation turn into an excellent experience with very fine end results.

Never underestimate the power of a small group of highly dedicated men to pull off amazing things.

    -Robert

Stole a display from my computer setup so I could watch tv and relax in my new chairs. Can't wait for a perfectly calibrated VT30!

Now I just gotta get 2 emotiva amps and shake this place even harder than I currently can!

With contrast set lower it was harder to see it, at least that's my initial impression. I just realized I meant to post the original post in the FBR thread, so mods feel free to move that and my response here to the appropriate thread as you see fit.

Here are some pics of my setup. My 65VT is at 87hrs into the break in process. The TV build date is May 2011 also has the newest update. So far I like custom mode over THX, I'll get it calibrated after the 150hr break in. The TV has no dead pixels, there is a small buzz behind the TV but when your a foot or further you cant hear anything, I sit back 8-10ft and there is no direct buzzing. Ive watched(all on Blu-ray 2D) Avatar, half blood prince, Tangled, Aliens and seen no FBs. Not saying there not there I just haven't seen it yet and I really looked hard on both Tangled and Avatar were other form members have seen FBs. If I have any news good or bad I'll report it. All pics were taken with iphone.

Every owner of the display's I calibrate for VE will receive a call from me before their display is calibrated. I will start the calls later this morning.

First, the ambient light conditions changes with each season, the daily weather conditions and at different times of the day. So for day we always make the TV produce as bright an image as possible before clipping and for ISF night we set the TV for as dark it can produce the picture before crushing black. So we don't need to discuss the room light conditions."
