Thread: God of War Collection IGN review

For those that don't know, the God of War Collection is the PS2 games God of War 1 & 2 remastered in 720p at 60fps.

8.5 Presentation
Great stories and fantastic behind-the-scenes content are only marred by poor video quality.
8.0 Graphics
While they don't hold a candle to the likes of Uncharted 2, the games look great in HD, especially God of War II. The crisp framerate is also very welcome.
9.5 Sound
A soundtrack as epic as the environments, killer sound effects and very good voice acting (despite Kratos mostly just saying "Athena!").
9.5 Gameplay
Top-notch combat controls, a good mix of interesting puzzles, incredible environments and tons of violence that's used at the perfect level.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
You'll easily get 20+ hours out of your first play-through if you haven't played them before, and things like the challenges will keep you hooked for a long while.

Wow, I finished God of War yesterday for the second time (first time on PS3 in HD). The game looks so good it's hard to believe it was once a PS2 game, I've played current gen games that didn't impress me this much. There isn't a ton of detail like with most newer games but everything is so sharp and clean, and the combat is silky smooth with a rock solid 60 fps.... even when you unleash the Army of Hades magic with 5 enemies onscreen attacking you while you do crazy moves with the blades (lots of movement basically swamping the screen) the framerate stays steady. No tearing either. As for the game itself, well if you didn't know already it's f'ing awesome! Epic and brutal. Ranks up there with Resident Evil 4 and Uncharted 2, two of my all-time fave single player games. I never finished God of War II PS2 version so I can't wait to get to that.

And a little extra bonus- God of War III comes out in March
