Kef iQ Series

Has anyone heard these?

I am finding super cheap prices on these iQ's and taking a look at them as replacements for my LRC.

They are half MSRP online since the "New" Q series has come out.

The iQ90 for L and R with the iQ60c for a center.

The only Kef dealer we have in STL is a custom installer and they don't have a listening room so I would be buying blind.

That's not something I prefer to do, and after my Polks purchase I have no desire to do again, but I would like opinions on these particular speakers if anyone has heard them.

How they sound? Harsh highs? Mid range punch?

Yes, one of my personal favorites for bang for your speakers. I found such a good deal on these I almost did a blind buy over my paradigms, but opted not to. a month later I got to spend some time with them. They are a very impressive speaker Not harsh at all, over all I would call them a "rich" sounding speaker not warm not bright but rich, with nice detail/clarity in the highs. Mid range punch is nice and smooth. The iQ Series is selling for super super cheap right now this would be a $1,000 well spent IMO. http://www.accessories4less.com/make...Package/1.html. In my price range my favorites thus fare are Paradigm, PSB, and KEF, I know that L2W has got some love KEF too. Too bad you don't have a dealer closer to you cause right now they are a steal of a deal for a very high quality speaker.

I'm bouncing back and forth between these and the RF-62II or RF-52II from Klipsch. The Klipsch have sounded great in my test listening. They are bright to me but not harsh.

That's the main problem with my Polks. The tweeter is very harsh and fatiguing when played at volume. After watching The Fighter I felt exhausted, and wanted no more audio what so ever. The high end is just so harsh, so I've EQ'd out a lot of the high range to mellow them out. I want a detailed but non harsh high end.

If you did an A/B comparison between these KEF speakers and the Klipsch you would be hard pressed to even give the Klipsch a second listen. The KEF's do sound that much better, everything else being equal. I don't see how you could go wrong purchasing these without hearing them. I believe you will be truly impressed.

Smooth, sweet top end, excellent mid bass, smooth roll offs that you can't hear and an impressive bottom end.

Well especially at this price point, I can't even find something anywhere online that is of the same caliber for $1,000. I got $850 into my paradigm bookshelf setup, don't get me wrong I love em, but if I would have had the opportunity to go with some KEF floor stander's for roughly the same price, I would have done it!!

I'm certainly not. I've auditioned the hell out of everything I can here that is in my price range, I'll prob just go with what I can actually test myself.

Last week I was in Nashville and found some Kef Dealers and none of them actually had the speakers in stock despite what their website said.

I was quite disappointed.

That's funny cause I too had to EQ out some of the hi end to get rid of harshness In my Polk Monitors too. I want new speakers as well. I've been considering KEF but have no where to audition and I really dont want to buy blind but I do trust L2Ws opinion.

He has never steered me wrong. The thing is at a grand for the kef's a ACL, you could use them for a year and re sell them for a couple hundred less than what you paid if you truly don't like them which at this price point I don't see how any one could be disapointed. I do this all the time, it works for me, but I am sure it is not for every one. it's fun just to use different equipment.

I trust L2W's opinion as well I just fear the buying blind. But I'm gonna hold out for awhile with what I have.

I was really really happy with the Klipsch RF-82 II in my last testing.

But I won't rule out the GE Triton 2 or the new Def Tech BP Towers. Both were amazing in the limited testing I had.

Everytime I travel for work I will be looking for a Kef dealer though.
