Mythos STS is going for $1500 and the GoldenEars retail at $1300. Has anybody heard both of these to compare? I am wondering what could be better between the two.

I have not heard the GoldenEars personally, but everyone that I have talked to that has heard them, basically states that the GoldenEars can't be beat at three their price and more.
Admittedly, speaker selection is an extremely personal decision, but I can't wait til I can locate a pair of the Triton Twos to listen to.

I have done some A/B testing with both and the Tritons are the clear winner, hands down. The new folded ribbon tweeter they are using delivers one of the best sound stages I have heard even when compared to speakers costing much, much more. Check out this review - LINK
Believe me when I tell you is just doesn't get much better than this...

Derek, both are very capable. Excellent, really. From what I'm seeing, it's not uncommon for Definitive dealers to be on board with GoldenEar. Try to find a dealer with both lines and do a comparison.

Thanks for all the help. Looks like I have a GoldenEar dealer 10 miles from me. I'll check them out. I will say that the Mythos look more appealing, at least from online.
Just wait until you audition them. Looks have nothing to do with sound quality/superiority...

Personally, I wasn't impressed with the look of the Triton II's - too much fabric for my tastes. However - they sound simply sublime. I was very impressed by the audio quality during moderate volumes - you don't have to crank these to get amazing sound. That HVFR tweeter is something magical.
