    Default Paradigm Titans not good??

So I'm 5 hours away from home and found a guy out here on kijiji selling a paradigm cc290 v5 and a pair or Titans v5 for 600. I got all excited about this but did some research on my iPhone tonight and found a bunch of reviews of people saying the Titans are the worst paradigm speaker in the monitor series, that it's not well balanced and had a bloated mid range. I want a 3 speaker set up for now and maybe add some atoms for surrounds later and maybe a sub after that. I'm just feeling discouraged now about what I was really excited to buy earlier today, I'm meeting the guy on Sunday so I wanted to hear any feedback:Are the titans a waste of money? Should I just get some atoms and a sub or save up for floorstanding? Thanks a million!

Btw I'm running on a Denon AVR 591 so not sure if the adyssey multeq would help the Titans sound better

Actually Titans will sound quite musical especially with your receiver.

The Titans are bad ass IMO, wish I lived near by that is a killer deal, if they haven't been abused.

I know of no other speaker that performs so much for so little relative cost compared to any other brand/model, etc. They deliver a much higher grade of audio from a speaker at this level, in fact they are generally compared against much larger and pricier models/brands. Also a plus is they don't require much power at all to make them sing... ...sonic bliss

To each their own, as far as sound is concerned, but I don't see how any one could say the Titans suck. They will rock out and are a very unique speaker, as far as the size of driver and size of cabinet. Where else can you buy a speaker from a world renown company, that is built in house from top to bottom, no out sourcing of components or china assembly? Samwise be sure to give these an audition before you make your decision, maybe they aren't for you, but if they are you are looking a pretty sweet deal. Please let us know how it turns out.

I just spent an hour with the Titans. Best sounding bookshelf speaker my ears have heard.
    I own some stuff.

Good deal, auditioning them is the only way to know and feel the sound. Glad we could shed some light for you, that's what we are here for, to assist each other...

So interesting twist to the story... it wasn't actually Titans he was selling, they were the Mini Monitor v5's! weird that he didn't know what his own speakers were, but they sounded awesome... pretty good bass too which is what I was looking forward to with the Titans. But I will now have to invest in a good sub sooner. I have read nothing but good reviews for the Mini's as well, so yes I am very happy and looking forward to hooking them up to my Denon tomorrow!

Nice score samwise!!! The mini's are a very nice speaker indeed, funny because they really are not miniature by any means, they do have a very nice mid bass punch to them, enjoy!!!!

Mini Monitors, oh yeah baby...just wait until you hear them sing. They will give you that mid bass punch you have been looking for as indicated in your original post. Add a sub and it's good to go.

Thanks again guys, what would be a good sub to go with the Mini Monitors? I was going to wait a while to get one since the Titans were bassy enough, but looks like I should find something sooner than later. Is it important to match these with a Paradigm sub?

No you don't necessarily need a Paradigm sub. Here is one I would recommend as it will deliver great punch at a reasonable price and it is a 12". LINK

If only amazon canada carried those that looks like a reasonable deal!

You might want to check out crutchfield, they have the ps210 in stock. Their price is a little higher, but still worth it. That sub is a true performer, and tough to beat in the $300 price range.

What about the infinity 12" PS312? I found one on Kijiji for $300, is it as highly regarded as the PS210 or PS212?
thanks! I just realized there is a forum of just sub talk, sorry if this is getting off topic, I guess a sub is a speaker too lol.
