    Default Insignia NS-B2111 Bookshelf Speaker

In my endless search for affordable audiophile and home theater products I recently happened upon a familiar face in Insignia's new NS-B2111 bookshelf speaker. The reason I refer to the Insignia as a "familiar face" is because it appears, at least on the surface, to be similar if not the same as another affordable loudspeaker I reviewed some time ago from then manufacturer Radiient Technologies -who has since moved on to wireless home theater technology and is no longer selling loudspeakers. I wanted to find out if my assumptions were correct so I picked up a pair for $87.98 from my local Best Buy, the only place Insignia is sold, for a little weekend audition.

What I was wondering is why the hell are they reviewing a speaker like that anyway? I suppose they will be reviewing Coby next? lol

Consider it a public service. When someone Googles this POS, they'll get a knowledgable review as well as the the acting asst. supervisor's enthusiastic thumbs up.

That's true. When I'm looking to buy something I google the model number. This review will help someone make that decision real fast. That same model number search helps hdj get hits too

I'm a fan of posting as many ht reviews as I can, good or bad.

I use them as near field speaker..and they actually image very well.

Nice to see you've inverted the speakers to get the tweeters on axis.

Tweeters should be at ear level, I would invert them.

    Hello Hi Res,
Tweeters are at ear level.... : )
These are a co-axial speaker..the tweeter is in the center of the driver......what looks like a tweeter at the top..is actually a port.

I purchased a pair of these when they came out for $45. They were well worth the cost. I thought they were a bit inefficient and not as transparent as I like, but still a value at twice the price. I've seen a lot worse for a lot more $$.
