Hello All,
I am thinking of getting a Soundbar to fill in the gap till I get my "real" speakers in. I realize that a Soundbar cannot replace physical speakers but still am curious to get some feedback.
Thanks in advance for any and all thoughts.

Soundbars are a great alternative for someone that doesn't have the space for a conventional speaker setup..the good news is that you can spend a small amount of money for one that will blow the TV speakers away...the bad news is the high quality ones are just too expensive when compared to even entry level speakers from a major brand..
You would be better off just starting off your set up with buying your avr and single center channel for now then adding to it.
Magnepan, B&K, Emotiva, HSU
Wow, there is a ton of speaker to choose from lots and lots of good ones. All depends on what sounds good to you. The best thing to do is go into your closest brick and mortar store and check them out. All that being said I like brands like PSB,Paradigm,KEF, and Klipsch to name a few. They offer allot of value for the money IMO. I am glad you decided to skip the sound bar and just focus your money on your surround, that really is the best route to go here.

Just to add a little spice to the mix.
I've tried/listened/experienced/compared/etc all the speakers mentioned and CANTON is my speaker of choice.
I agree, with the consensus. If you don't need a sound bar for any other TV, don't buy it. Start buying equipment for that full set up.
Suffer now, save later and enjoy the fun of building your HT system.
