    Default Looking for new speakers

I've been wanting to update my surround speakers. I've been looking at the Klipsch F-3 towers and C-3 center. You guys have any thought on these. I have already bought the Klipsch Senergy powered 12in sub.

I think they will sound overly bright with your receiver.

Do you agree that a nice set of towers really make a setup look sweet?

I certainly like the look of towers in the front.

Onkyo receivers are antiseptic in sound when compared to others, that is to say not colored or warm. Klipsch, being horn speakers are very bright and listening to them on a un-warm receiver will get tiring and you will not like them after long periods of listening. At least that's what I feel. I think you would be better served by any brand of speaker that does not use horns.

MMM, I'm not sure what you guys have against horns.
Are my fronts I have now are horned?? Do you think they have too much treble?? High pitched sounds too high? I looked at some Elements the other day but just didnt care how they looked. I know I need to go by sound and not looks. I'm not sure I understand your dislike against the horn. Maybe I'm not understanding what you are calling horned speakers. I'll post another picture of one of my fronts and you tell me if its horned.

Does anyone own a soundbar? Or had any experience with one?

I'm curious how these things sound? I may get one for my loft or bedroom. I'm looking at the Polk or the Yamaha. Any comments would be appreciated!

I tested the Yamaha and Sony as well as the Zvox and thought they all severely lacked. Now if you have no other option it certainly would be better than nothing at all...

Don't get me wrong here as I have nothing against horney speakers but many listeners don't like the in your face bright highs. I drive my Klipschorn's, LaScalla's and Cornwall's all with Onkyo equipment and they sound just fine to me. Sound is subjective so your mileage may vary. I do love my Klipsch.

The point I'm trying to make here is that Klipsch speakers are brighter then just about anything else available so before making a purchase of such magnitude that you will have to live with for quite some time, give some other brands a listen/audition first. You just might find some that sound better to you then again you may not.

There are so many exceptional speakers available today it would be a shame for anyone to purchase a system without considering/auditioning all that are available in your price range.

You have a great receiver that does now give you the wow factor and multiplying that with great sounding speakers would be kick ass. Don't settle for less then you deserve. :D

Yea, I'm looking at the Yamaha but not sure if it's worth a grand.

I would be willing to pay around $300 for one but not any more. They just don't perform that well and you must have a perfectly rectangular room for them to work properly. A small, inexpensive HTiB will sound much better in most all cases.

The soundbar system are very good when used in the perfectly configured room it must be centered on your main wall and have a clear path to the adjoining walls and back wall, any openings ( doorways / alcoves /large windows) will disrupt the projected sound pattern and therefore alter the "Surround effect". I'm not a big fan of them, although as stated they sound really good in the auditioning rooms of the stores that sell them ( and that's a reason a lot of "Audio Dens" are not pushing them).

I see what you are saying now. I've seen so many brands out there now that I've never even heard of. What do you know about Boston Acoustics? I've seen some towers by them that look pretty nice but didn't get a chance to see how they perform. Yeah I appreciate all the help you gave me with my receiver I was getting a little discouraged with it when I first got it. But now I wouldn't trade it for anything. I think if Gos would have keep his a bit longer he would feel the same way as I do about mine.
It seems that everyone is going to the smaller speakers but I really want tower speakers for my system. I'm sure that some of the smaller speakers will perform as well as if not out perform some of the towers but I just think a good looking set of towers really make a system look nice. Thats just my opinion.

Hell yeah Junkie. IMO, there is nothing quite as exciting as buying new speakers. It's probably my favorite piece of equipment to search out and buy. You really do need to listen to as many as you can. That's hard to do unfortunately. I mean - all the pieces you purchase, receivers, blu-ray players, TV's, etc - simply are at the mercy of the speakers. No speakers - no sound. Gotta take your time and do your research.
