Arrow Definitive Technology Announces Super-Thin Wall-Mount Speakers for 2010

Definitive Technology is getting a jump on tradeshow season, announcing three new speakers to its lengthy lineup. The company says that it will soon display the Mythos XTR-50, the DI 5.5LCR and the DI 6.5LCR at September's CEDIA show in Atlanta. Surely, they will offer a repeat performance in January at the be-all-end-all of electronics, CES.

I agree. I have a smaller set of Def Tech speakers and absolutely love the sound. I also have the Super cube powered subwoofer and for the size it puts out amazing lows. I use to own the DCM dual 12 inch speaker powered subwoofer and this super cube with a 8 inch speaker does every bit as good as the larger DCM. Great sound.

Def-Tech has always put out nice speaker within a comfortable price range. And these new in-wall speaker really compliment a wall mt'd flat panel display.

Anybody seen any post-CEDIA reports about these?

And, Rizz, how do you like your Mirages? Does the omnidirectional design really produce the wide sweet spot and enveloping sound that they claim? What's the trade-off? Imaging?

I've had several brands of speakers Bose 10.2 / Polks rt 800's / Altec lansing theaters/ and now these Mirage and I do feel these are truly unique with the Omni-directional design create an all encompassing soundfield that really does work the soundfeild they create is excellent. If you have access to a Magnolia store I suggest you audition a setup you'll be quite suprised. I like these more than anything I've had before. if your interested I would suggest upsizing the sub to a 10" ample or even better a 12" for really deep clean bass. As far as a trade off I have found any yet. in the two years I've had these. Nice for music reproduction, nice mid range tone, clean highs.

That's quite an endorsement, Rizz. And a sweet-looking setup. I love the look of towers, but I don't really have room for them. I'll be going for an all wall-mount combo ('cept the sub, of course). If I go with Mirage, probably something like OMD-5s and one of those center-channels. Or maybe an all OMD-5 setup -- L/R and two centers, one above and one below the screen.

The towers have a really small " footprint"

At that price, they better be! That's almost as much as my JM Labs cost when I got 'em 10 years ago.

Yeah, unfortunately, I'm looking for basically zero footprint. Wanna reclaim the space along that wall (under the tv, etc.).
