Default Paradigm’s new $299 SE 1 Speaker Beats $1,000+ Model in Blind Listening Tests

Paradigm's new $299 (each) SE 1 bookshelf speakers sound better than $1,000+ speakers from a marquis brand. Hit the link for the full details; you've got time to make a decision -- the SE 1, SE 3 ($700, floorstanding), SE Center ($500) and SE Sub ($700) won't ship until sometime after CEDIA.

Per Trent's request, I stole a quick look at these things at Paradigm's CEDIA booth. The are indeed impressive, especially for the price. The SEs are not their full-on reference speakers, but neither are they the entry-level ones. From the rep's comments, I guess the idea was to come up with a design that came pretty darned close to reference while still leaving a comfy middle class customer debt-free. As best I can tell, that's exactly what they do.

Pictures of them are on my Flickr account where I posted the 8500 pics.

    Yours,

    David

The $1000 dollar speakers were B&W. Ain't that a kick in ass for them.
