Default Will this do the job?

I think I'm getting this. link I have a 42in LG PDP downstairs that the PS3 and a DVR are hooked up to. The tv speakers buzz and it drives me nuts. This seems to let me hook everything up thru HDMI and forget about it. I know it won't sound like my 5.1 system but my budget for this is $300. All I do is game watch sports on this TV.
    L2W you will be missed.

    Hi mytime,

My security settings won't let me view that link. When I try to, Firefox's Noscript and RequestPolicy extensions go ape on it. Sorry. Maybe someone else can access it and comment?

Looks good and according to Amazon's reviewers they are all pleased with the system. Sounds like this will satisfy your needs with a decent price.

Due space constraints in that area I can't go with a HTIB. The room was just a storage area that I turned into a small computer/ gaming room. It's only about 110sq ft and oddly shaped.

Same here. As long as the seller has a good returns policy, it can't hurt to try it, though, right?

Even if you went with a 3.1, that would be better that sony..

I'm just looking for something easy and that sounds marginally better than those damn buzzing panel speakers. Plus it will double as a HDMI switcher since the LG only has 2 HDMI ports.

Plus I have heard that any soundbar worth a crap will set you back at least a grand so I imagine I'm not going to see much difference between a $250 and a $500 one.

Screw it I'm buying this http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_05792810000P I'll stick the Onkyo downstairs and use the old HTIB speakers to create a 3.1 system.

Whoops! The trigger has been pressed. I do sympathize regarding the current speakers, mytime--nothing is more frustrating in a sound system than having it buzz. My old Logitech computer speakers did that and it drove me to distraction. Let us know how the new setup works out.

Cool. Let us know what you think of it. Having never heard one, I'm curious what they're like.
