Paradigm’s New Millenia One Speakers: Low Priced, Highly Protected

Paradigm's $249 Millennia One LCR speakers feature the high performance
of Paradigm's Studio series, but in a tiny size. No big box retailers allowed.

If you’re looking for high-performance, low-cost itty bitty speakers that you won’t find at the big-box stores, Paradigm has just the ticket.

The new Millennia One takes the best of Paradigm’s popular Studio series, including the drivers, and packs them into a compact cabinet that’s smaller than a football. In fact, the Millennia One speakers are about half the size of Paradigm’s budget Cinema HTIB speakers.

“We’ve done some work, especially in the cabinet to play around with port and driver coupling,” says marketing manager Mark Aling. “There’s greater frequency response and you can play them louder.”

    Hi BruZZi,

Those do look surprisingly good. I'd love to see what the reviewers have to say, because if these things work as billed, paradigm will be well-positioned to pull in some serious money.

So, do you think you're gonna buy 'em? If so, please do post a short review of them when the time comes.

    Yours,

    David

If they really sound that good then I'll definitively buy them.

Right now I'm using a pair of Pioneer S-DS1-Z for my surrounds. I bought them as temporary solution until deciding what to use as permanent rear speakers. Believe it or not, they sound surprisingly good especially considering that I only paid $30 for them.

The Millenia One's might be the Surround Speakers I was looking for:
Beautiful Design / Big Sound / Small Foot Print.

Yeah, that review spared no compliments. So are you planning to audition them before deciding?

I always like to audition speakers before buying them (even though I never did it before buying my Studio 10's). Hopefully, I'll be able to listen to them in any local dealer soon.

Excellent. Let us know how the audition goes, BruZZi (and per the review, I guess you'll need to make sure they couple the speakers with a really good sub).

My mighty Sunfire HRS-8 should be more than enough.

And should be fun using them as front speakers for a comparison against my Studio 10's. _

(In my best Bill Lumbergh voice) "Yyyeahhhhh ... " you think they'll stand up?

Obviously it can't compare against "real" subs. But as I keep praising... the amount of bass this little sub can output is unbelievable.

    Hehehehehe...

That review I posted got me all excited. It's great that the MO's have the same 89db sensitivity as my Studio 10's even with such smaller cabinet. Now I'm really hoping they sound that good.

It was a very positive review, to be sure. If the Millennia Ones are nearly as good as the reviewer claims, I'd expect them to stand up to the Studio 10s. And you know what that means--

    "Yyyeahhhhh, that'd be greeaaat."

    LOL !!!

I only have one concern... maximum input power is only 50 watts. Hmmm...

Those are some nifty looking little doozers, Bru. I second David's request for feedback, if you get them.

Unfortunately that "50 watts max power" is a deal-breaker form me. :(

I'm still (seriously) thinking about getting the Emotiva XPA-5 200WPC Amplifier.

That power handling will be just too low and I might end up damaging the M1's.

    Oh well...
